Eski ehir, 2007.

Endometriosisin geli imi

Apoptosis and angiogenesis in pathophyslogy of
endometriosis and cytokines and distribution of immune cells in
peritoneal fluid and serum in endometriotic women, Eskisehir
Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine, Medical Speciality Thesis
in Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Eski ehir, 2007.
Endometriosis is seen in %5-15 of women of reproductive years. The
importance lies in the fact that it may be with infertility, dysmenorrhea,
dyspareunia and abdominal pain. The exact pathophysiology of
endometriosis is not totally elucidated. In our study we sought the role of
apoptosis and angiogenesis in pathophysiology of disease and evaluated the
levels of cytokines and immune cells in both peritoneal fluid and serum.
The present investigation contained two experiments including both
endometriotic and non-endometriotic control women. In the first
experiment, TUNEL, M-30, Bax and Bcl-2 were assessed in pelvic
peritoneum, adhesion, eutopic/ectopic endometria and in endometriotic
cyst. In the second experiment, we evaluated the levels of IL-2, IL-4, IL-
10, IFN- and VEGF and immune cells in peritoneal fluid and serum.
There was no difference for cytokines and immune cells between
endometriotic and non-endometriotic women. TUNEL and M-30 were
increased in endometriotic cyst wall, compared to those of endometriotic
foci. Therefore, different pathogenetic mechanisms may lead to ovarian
and peritoneal endometriosis. Development and progression of
endometriosis is still a subject of debate. There is still roam for large
studies, to elucidate the exact mechanism of the disease.
