The effect of electromagnetic waves (EMW) on human beings and as a result of this, the
relationship of the EMW with some diseases are being widely studied. Comparing with the
other diseases, the effect of EMD on epilepsy seizures is not known enough yet.
In our study; we aimed to research the effect of EMD exposure in different frequencies and in
different time intervals on latency, severity and the mortality difference between the seizures
of PTZ epileptic model of mice by comparing with the control group.
The study was made on 180 albino mice. The weight of mice was 25-30 mg and the ages were
between 3-4 weeks.
The group that consists of 10 mice were exposed to EMD by 20hour,12 hour and 2 hours
periods and in each time period they were exposed to 900,700,500,300,100 MHz EMD. After
EMD, PTZ was injected to the mice in 60mg/kg dose via intraperitoneal. By the way only
PTZ İP was injected to each control group after the end of this time without elektromagnetic
area exposure. The seizures that were observed on mice were observed and scored. An
antenna was used for the EMD exposure.
The EMD in different frequency at the same time intervals and the EMD in different time
intervals at the same frequencies caused differnt effects on the latency and the severity of the
first seizure But no parallellism between the effect with the increasing or the decreasing
frequency or time period was obsorved.
These all data suggests taht EMD with different frequencies may have different effects on
acute PTZ epileptic model.
