Basîrî (941/1534-35) lived in the 16 th century that the most brilliant century of the Ottoman Empire, the century that the conquest of Istanbul took place in and the century that the Ottoman Empire reached his borders to three continents in. When Artists, poets, scholars came from Iran, Central Asia and the surrounding countries to Ottotman Empire, Basîrî was among them, too. There was great interest in poetry, art and literature in this century. Even the sultans who managed the Empire and notables were poets and they also were divan owners. Thanks to them valuable works were created in this department. This study is about Basîrî who lived in the 16th century, and about his Persian Divan its Turkish translation. Basîrî 's Persian Divan and its Turkish translation is a topic that has not been under debate until today. Basîrî 's Persian Divan is present in his manuscript and is in a single copy. Also, the Turkish Divan that he wrote is at the end of his Persian Divan. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kartal published a book about his Turkish Divan that called Basîrî and his Turkish Poems in 2006.
Persian classical texts which constitute an important part of classical Turkish literature, especially poetry translations or divan translations from Persian to Turkish are almost non-existent. There is always a need to meet the needs and fill this gap in this department. Acting with this awareness, we translated Basîrî's Persian Divan into Turkish as a contribution to cultural heritage. There are a total of 23 kasides, 121 ghazals and 32 stanza in the Divan which consists of 1406 couplets. In the first part of this study, which consists of three chapters, information is given about the life, literary personality and works of the poet; In the second part, the poet's Persian Divan and its content has been under debate; In the third part, the translation of poet's Persian Divan is tried to be made. Translation method is based on indirect translation method. Indirect translation has been used in the translation of the main text in the source language to the target language, Since the concepts and linguistic structures in the source language are not in the target language, the syntactic and word
structure changes were made in the target language and indirect translation method was utilized.
