The purpose of this study is to investigate success of dimethoate imprinted polymers based on ligand exchange in the application of both solid phase extraction and potentiometric sensor. In the first stage of this study, Chitosan-d(II)-3Mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane and Chitosan-Cd (II) metal chelate monomers have prepared and polymerized interacting with dimethoate using suitable cross linkers. After that, the dimetoate has leached from these structures using 0,1 mol L-1 formaldehyde solution and two different sorbent materials which have selective binding sites for dimethoate have been obtained. These solid matries are ; MIP-2 [Chitosan-Cd(II)- 3-Mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane-Dimethoate], MIP-1 [Chitosan-Cd(II)-Dimethoate]. In the second stage; dimethoate imprinted polymeric structures have been characterized by infrared spectroscopy and adsorption of this dimethoate imprinted polymers, the availability of desorption process, the adsorption isotherms and selectivity was investigated. The potential response in the potentiometric studies response time, selectivity and reusability of the prepared sensors have investigated.
