Transparent conducting oxide materials are needed in opto-electronic technology which is developing and searching for novelty day by day. In this work, ZnO films which belong to n-type transparent conducting oxide group have been produced by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis technique at different Ir incorporation rates (4 %, 8 %, 12 %). The effect of Ir incorporation has been searched by investigating the structural, optical, surface and electrical properties of the produced films. Thicknesses and some optical parameters (refractive index and extinction coefficient) have been determined by spectroscopic ellipsometer. It was determined from X-ray diffraction patterns that all of the films are polycrystalline and Ir incorporation at 12 % made the best improvement in point of view of the structural properties. Optical properties have been investigated, and it was determined that ZnO:Ir films have band gap values between 3.19 eV and 3.22 eV. Three dimensional surface topography and surface roughness of the films have been investigated by Atomic Force Microscope. Surface properties of the films have been investigated by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope and elemental analyses have been made by Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer. Two-probe method has been used to determine the conduction mechanisms and resistivity values of the films. All of the results have been appreciated in point of view of optoelectronic industry and photovoltaic solar cell applications and it has been concluded that Ir incorporation has a noticeable affect on each physical property.
