Bor nitrür (BN) berilyum (p-tipi) ve silikon (n-tipi) ile kolay depolanabilme, yüksek sıcaklıkta kararlılık, üstün mekaniksel gücü ile kullanım dayanıklılığı, yüksek termal iletkenlik ve düşük yoğunluk gibi eşsiz özelliklerinden dolayı III–V grup bileşikleri arasında en ilgincidir. Bu, materyal birçok uygulamada karbon ilişkili materyaller için iyi bir alternatif olarak göze çarpmaktadır. BN, sadece sıkı formlu bir bileşik olmayıp termal iletişimi, mekanik özellikleri, elektrik ve optik özellikleri de mükemmeldir ve negatif elektrik özelliği karbonlara benzer. Buna ek olarak, karbon nano tüp hem yarı iletkenlik hem iletkenlik özelliği gösterir fakat BN nano tüp gelecekte uygulaması ve gelişmesi en uygun olan bir yarı iletken gibi davranır. Bu çalışmada (TH-CVD) sırasıyla B ve N kaynakları olarak tepkime odasına azot gazını verip 60˚C’de trimetilen boratı buharlaştırarak BN nano tüpü sentezlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. 434 kodlu paslanmaz çeliğin 1mm’lik gözeneklerle tel iskeleye dolanarak sarılması sağlanmıştır. Bu tel iskele daha sonra TH-CVD tepkime odasının ortasına yerleştirilmiş ve Cr, Fe ve Mo içeren paslanmaz çelik, bobin yüzeyi üzerinde BN nano tüpün büyümesinde rol oynamıştır. Üretilen BN nano tüp SEM (taramalı elektron mikroskobu), HR-TEM (yüksek çözünürlüklü alan emisyonu iletim elektron mikroskobu), TF-XRD (ince film X-ışın difraktometre), FTIR (Fourier kızılötesi dönüşüm) cihazları ile karakterize edilmiştir.
Boron nitride (BN) is one of the most interesting III–V group compounds due to its unique properties, such as low density, high thermal conductivity, excellent mechanical strength wear resistance, stability at high temperatures, and possibility of easily doping with silicon (n-type) and beryllium (p-type). Thus, the material appears as a good alternative for carbon-related materials in several applications. BN cannot only form hardy compound but also have excellent optical, electrical, thermal conduction and mechanical properties since the negative electricity property similarity to carbons. In addition, carbon nanotube demonstrates both conducting and semiconducting property but BN nanotube behaves as a semiconductor which is more convenient to component development and application in the future. In this study, thermal-heating chemical vapor deposition (TH-CVD) was used to synthesize the BN nanotube by vaporizing trimethyl borate at 60˚C and providing nitrogen gas to the reaction chamber as the source of B and N, respectively. 434 coded stainless steel was coiled as entangled wire scaffold with pore size of 1 mm. This wire scaffold, thereafter, placed in the middle part of TH-CVD reaction chamber. Cr, Fe, Mo contained in the stainless steel would serve as the catalysts to provide in situ growth of BN nanotube on the coil surface. The produced BN nanotube was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), high-resolution field-emission transmitted electron microscope (HRTEM), thinfilm X-ray diffractometer (TF-XRD) and Fourier transformation infrared (FTIR).
