The level densities and gamma strength functions are essential ingredients for
reactor resign, astrophysics, and waste transmutation as well as statistical
Hauser-Feshbach reaction rate calculations. In addition level densities and gama
strength functions are the average quantities used to describe the thermodynamic and
electromagnetic properties of nuclei in the quasi-continuum region.
The nuclear physics group at the Oslo Cyclotron Laboratory has developed a
method the so called Oslo Method to extract both the level density and the gamma
strength function simultaneously in quasi continuum region below the neutron
seperation energy. Due to the lack of experimental data in the quasi-continuum
region, the results obtained with the Oslo Method are expected to ll this gap.
In this thesis, the level densities and gamma strength functions of 144;145Nd
isotopes have been obtained via the Oslo Method. Obtained level densities and gama
strength functions are compared with other experimental data in di erent energy
regions to investigate systematics between them.
