Öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin etik kodlar

Abstract

Amaç: Bu araştırma öğretmenlerin yargılarına göre, öğretmen davranışlarına ilişkin bir etik kodu oluşturulmasını ve bu yargıların etik kuramları çerçevesinde değerlendirilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Yöntem: Bu çalışma keşfedici korelasyonel desende nicel bir çalışmadır. Araştırmada araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen öğretmenlik mesleği etik ilkeler envanteri ve etik eğilimler ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada Afyonkarahisar il merkezinde devlet okullarında görev yapan 305 öğretmenden veri toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonunda öğretmenlik mesleği etik ilkeler envanteri maddelerinden öğretmenler için bir etik kodu ortaya konmuştur. Bulgular: Araştırma bulgularına göre öğretmenlerin büyük çoğunluğu (%62.6) deontolojik etik eğilimlere sahiptir. Öğretmenlerin etik eğilimlerinde okul türü, kıdem, branş ve cinsiyet değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Etik eğilimler öğretmenlerin mesleki etik ilkelerle ilgili etik yargılarıyla pozitif, düşük düzeyde ilişkiye sahiptir ve etik yargıları %8.7 oranında yordamaktadırlar. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre öğretmenlerin mesleki etik ilkeler ile ilgili yargıları okul türüne, kıdeme, eğitim durumu ve cinsiyete göre anlamlı şekilde farklılaşmıştır. Branş değişkenine göre bir farklılaşma tespit edilmemiştir. Sonuç ve Tartışma: 56 madde ve altı faktörden oluşan geçerli ve güvenilir Öğretmenlik Mesleği Etik İlkeler Envanteri aracılığıyla öğretmenlerin mesleki etik davranışlar ile ilgili yargıları tespit edilmiştir. Etik Eğilimler Ölçeği aracılığıyla da öğretmenlerin etik eğilimleri ortaya konmuştur. Ortaya konulan bu etik eğilimlerin öğretmenlerin mesleki etik davranış ilkeleri ile ilgili yargılarını düşük düzeyde yordadığı tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın somut çıktıları olarak farklı örneklemlerle farklı araştırmalarda da kullanılabilecek bir Öğretmenlik Mesleği Etik İlkeler Envanteri, bir Etik Eğilimler Ölçeği ve öğretmenler için hazırlanmış bir mesleki etik kodu sıralanabilir.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to constitute a code of ethics for teachers considering the judgements of teachers about teacher behaviours and to analyse these judgements within the framework of the theories of ethics. Method: This study is a quantitative study designed in explanatory correlational design. In the study, teaching profession ethical principles inventory and ethical tendencies scale, which were developed by the researcher, were used. The data was collected from 305 teachers working at public schools in Afyonkarahisar city centre. As a result of the study a code of ethics for teachers were constituted using the items of teaching profession ethical principles inventory. Results: According to the findings of the study, a great deal of teachers have deontological ethical tendencies (62.6%). Some significant differences were found in the ethical tendencies of the teachers according to the variables of the school type, seniority, branch and gender. Ethical tendencies have positive low level correlations with the ethical judgements of teachers about professional ethics principles and they predict the ethical judgements at a rate of 8.7%. The judgements of the teachers regarding professional ethical principles for teachers differentiated significantly according to the variables of the school type, seniority, and gender. No difference was found regarding the variable of branch. Conclusion and Discussion: The judgements of teachers about professionally ethical behaviours were identified via teaching profession ethical principles inventory. The ethical tendencies of the teachers were identified using Ethical Tendencies Scale. As concrete outputs of the study, a Teaching Profession Ethical Principles Inventory and an Ethical Tendencies Scale, which can be used in different settings, with different participants and for different studies, and a code of ethics for teachers can be listed.
