Amaç: Bu araştırma, intihar girişiminde bulunan 13-18 yaş grubu çocuklarda intihara yönelten risk faktörlerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Kapsam: Çocuk ve ergenlerde intihar ve intihar girişimleri gün geçtikçe artan önemli bir halk sağlığı sorunudur. İntiharı önlemenin en etkili yolu ise olay davranışa dönüşmeden önce risk faktörlerinin belirlenmesi ve önlem alınmasıdır.
Yöntem: Araştırma Ankara Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Hematoloji Onkoloji Eğitim Araştırma Hastanesi Çocuk Acil de yapılmıştır. Tanımlayıcı tipte bir araştırmadır. Çalışmamızda 2 grup bulunmaktadır. Bunlar; intihar girişimi grubu ve kontrol grubudur. Kasım 2015-Mart 2016 tarihleri arasında 13-18 yaş arası intihar girişimi nedeniyle acile gelen ve çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden ilk 100 çocuk ve aynı dönemde 13-18 yaş arası intihar dışı herhangi bir nedenle acile gelen ve çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden ilk 100 çocuk örneklem grubumuzu oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplamak için araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen sosyo-demografik özellikler (39 soru) ve intihar girişimine ait özellikleri (14 soru) içeren Veri Toplama Formu, Beck Depresyon Ölçeği (BDÖ) ve Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği (BUÖ) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde SPSS 21.0 paket programı kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Yapılan analizler sonucunda kadın cinsiyette, okula devam etmeyenlerde, okul başarı durumu kötü olanlarda, psikolojik hastalığı olanlarda, sigara ve alkol kullananlarda, arkadaş/arkadaşlarıyla ilişki durumu kötü olanlarda intihar girişimi riskinin daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Ergenin ebeveynleri ile olan iyi ilişkisi, ailede çocuğun fikrinin alınıyor olması, anne-babanın aynı evde yaşıyor olması, annenin çalışmıyor olması ergenlerde intihar girişimi riskini azaltan faktörler olarak saptanmıştır. İntihar girişimlerinin %91.0‟ı evde gerçekleştirilmiş ve en sık kullanılan yöntem ilaç alımı olarak belirlenmiştir. İntihar girişimlerinin çoğunlukla ailevi etkenler nedeni ile oluştuğu saptanmıştır. Girişimde bulunanların %66.0‟ı pişman olduğunu, %21.0‟ı tekrar intihar edebileceğini, %13.0‟ı ise bu konuda kararsız olduğunu belirtmiştir. Ergenlerin %20.0‟ının öyküsünde geçmişte intihar girişimi vardır ve ergenlerin %78.0‟ı psikolojik destek almak istemektedir.
Sonuç: Çocuklarda aile, okul ve sosyal yaşantı gibi faktörler intihar girişimi riskini arttırmaktadır.
Aim: This study aims to determine the risk factors leading to suicide in teenagers between the age of 13 and 18, who attempted to commit suicide.
Scope: Suicides and suicide attempts in children and teenagers are significant community health problems, which gradually become greater issues. The most effective way to prevent suicides is to determine the risk factors and take precautions before the idea of suicide turns into action.
Method: The research was conducted in Pediatric Emergency Department of Ankara Pediatry Hematology Oncology Training and Research Hospital. It was a descriptive research. There were two groups in the study, which are suicide attempt group and control group. The sample group are 200 consented teenagers aged 13 to 18 who came to emergency service between the dates of November 2015 to March 2015. The first 100 of these children came to emergency service due to suicide attempt while the other 100 came to the service due to the reasons other than suicide. Data Collection Form, which includes socio-demographic characteristics (39 questions) and suicide attempt characteristics (14 questions) developed by researchers with the aim of gathering data, Beck Depression Scale, and Beck Hopelessness Scale were used in the study. SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the data.
Findings: As the results of analyzed data, the risk of committing suicide was high in female children, in children who are reluctant in school attendance or quitted school, who are unsuccessful at school, children with psychological illnesses, children with smoking and alcohol habits, children who are bad at friendship relations (p<0.05). Good relationship with parents, considering the teenager‟s opinion in family, parents living together, stay-at- home mothers were detected as factors decreasing the risk of suicide in teenagers. 91.0% of the suicide attempts were committed at home, and the most used way of doing this was determined as taking pills. The reasons for suicide attempts were mostly family related factors. 66.0% of suicide attempters pronounced regretful, 21.0% of them pronounced that they may commit suicide again, and 13.0% of them pronounced indecisive. 20% of teenagers have a suicide attempt in their case history, and 78% of them demand psychological support.
Result: Factors such as family, school, and social life increases the risk of suicide attempt in children.
