Sampling is choosing a sample from interested population with study topic. The characteristics of population such as mean, sum and ratio are estimated by sampling and then it is possible to interpret about the information. Sampling methods are divided into two parts as random sampling and non- random sampling. There is equal choosing probability for the units what is the chosed to sample in random sampling methods. But these units are determined by researcher in the non- random sampling methods. The simple random sampling method (SRS) is the most used method in random sampling methods. But in this method, the efficiency of estimator is substantially affected by sample size. If the sample size no matter how big the SRS method, the estimator gives population parameter’ s estimation more consistent. In many studies, we are forced to work in small samples due to factors such as time, cost and labor. In small samples, RSS that are considered more effective by Ranked Set Sampling.
RSS method is based on the order statistics and RSS is susceptible to ranking errors that may occur. Therefore, intended for ranking errors to minimize, several ranked set sampling methods are given in the literature. In this study, by taking Extremes Ranked Set Sampling (USKO), Median Ranked Set Sampling (MSKO), Ratio Ranked Set Sampling (YSKO), L Ramked Set Sampling (LSKO), Quartile Ranked Set Sampling (KSKO), Moving Extremes Ranked Set Sampling (HUSKO) and Harmonic Ranked Set Sampling (HSKO) methods, focused on the estimate of population mean. These discussed methods in the application part of the thesis are compared with estimation values of population mean obtained by SRS method.
