The aim of this research is to determine the relationships between the levels
of perceived organizational ethical climate and organizational cynicism of employees
employed at four and five star hospitality establishments in İstanbul. The reason why
İstanbul was selected as the focus of this study is that it is one of Turkey's most
important tourism destinations with regards to touristic total bed amount and hosting
multiple tourist activities. Moreover, because four and five star hospitality
establishments have more professional management practices, administrators and
employees than other hospitality establishments in the tourism sector, these four and
five star hospitality establishments were selected as the sample out of the target
hospitality establishments. Thereby, it has been considered that the information
obtained from employees of hospitality establishments in this destination would
provide the most appropriate means for achieving the ultimate objectives of this
research. In this study, questionnaire technique was used to collect data. The data
that were collected from 391 employees of four and five star hospitality
establishments in İstanbul were analysed by using SPSS (Statistical Program For
Social Sciences). In this study, frequency-percent, the reliability, factor, correlation,
and regression analyses were respectively carried out. As a result of this analysis; it
was found that there has been a negative and statistically significant relationship between organizational cynicism and organizational ethical climate. In addition,
according to the result of regression analysis; it was identified that approximately
10% of the variation in organizational cynicism can be explained by the ethical
climate.
