Bursa basınında Demokrat Parti (1950-1960)

Abstract

Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin çok partili siyasi hayata geçiş süreci 17 Kasım 1924’te kurulan Terakkiperver Cumhuriyet Fırkası ile başlamış, 1930’da Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası’nın kurulmasıyla devam etmiş ancak yaşanan gelişmeler üzerine bu süreç kesintiye uğramıştı. II. Dünya Savaşının sonunda dünya’da yaşanan gelişmeler ve tek partili sistemlerin savaşı kaybetmesi ve demokrasiyle yönetilen devletlerin savaşı kazanması konjonktürel olarak Türkiye’yi de etkilemiş ve 18 Temmuz 1945 yılında kurulan Milli Kalkınma Partisi ile yeniden çok partili siyasi süreç başlamıştır. 7 Ocak 1946’da kurulan Demokrat Parti ise bu sürecin asıl taşıyıcı unsuru olup; dört yıl sonra yapılan seçimlerde (14 Mayıs 1950’de) 27 yıllık tek parti dönemini sona erdirerek Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nde ilk defa serbest seçimle iktidarı kazanan Türk siyasi partisi olması özelliği ile döneme damgasını vurmuştur. Hiç şüphesiz bu sürecin ortaya çıkmasında, kamuoyu tarafından takip edilmesinde halk iradesinin yönetime yansımasında basın faaliyetlerinin önemli bir rolü olmuştur. Bu araştırmada; 1950-1960 yılları arasında Türkiye’de iktidarda bulunan Demokrat Parti’nin siyasi politikaları ve Bursa basınındaki yansımaları ele alınmıştır. Araştırmada Bursa’da çıkan yerel gazeteler taranarak incelenmiş ve on yılık süreç içerisinde Türkiye’de çok partili siyasi hayatın getirdiği değişimler gözlemlenmiştir.

The transition for multi-party system in the Republic of Turkey started with the establishment of the Progressive Republican Party on November 17, 1924 and continued with the Free Republican Party in 1930, but this process was interrupted due to the certain events occurred. The worldwide changes occurred at the end of the World War II, the end of single party systems, and the democratic regimes winning the war impacted Turkey; therefore, multiple party systems started again with the establishment of the National Development Party on July 18, 1945. The Democratic Party established on January 7th, 1946 was the main component of this process and it became the first political party that won the elections in the Republic of Turkey when the elections occurred four years after it was established (May 14, 1950). Undoubtedly, the press actions played an important role in the occurrence of these events, as well as the helping public follow them. In this study, the political actions taken by the Democratic Party between the years of 1950-1960 and how these actions were reflected in Bursa press. In the study, the local newspapers in Bursa were reviewed and the changes occurred due to the multiple part system in Turkey during this ten year period.
